Pulse Polio schedules

Would be great if there could be some contribution on this page on the Pulse Polio sunday schedules. Have been missing giving my daughter her pulse polio shots because of my lack of awareness about which Sunday its getting administered in Malibu Towne.

If anyone can help me with the next date would be great.

Diwali Cheer...

On Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 8:13 AM, ravi tata wrote:

Following is actual facts of the fire incident took place on 18th Oct, 2009 in Tower 6 basement garbage collection bin. This is the first hand report, since my family members and guests are the first one to disover the fire. It is not the story heard from others.

• At 7.35 PM my guests discovered huge smoke on Lift corridor area of 9th floor. It was discovered that, smoke was coming from garbage Collection wall door.

• Immediately guard at the ground floor was alerted.

• All the family members and guests were evacuated from 904 using lifts and went to ground floor. (although it was advisable not to use lifts during fire, it was found that, tower 6 stair cases are blocked with the junk stuff and some doors do not have knobs and are not opening also).

• I have rushed to (-1) basement area / Car parking area, alerting guard at the parking lot. Guard alerted other guards and maintenance people.

• I have reached the spot of garbage collection area and found that, there was fire of 4 feet height. Door of Garbage Collection area was closed. (no lock)

• We found sand bag / construction material near that area and immediately we spread the material on the fire, which reduced the fire height.

• Found fire hose next to lifts and pulled the fire hose and opened the water. Water did not come thru and found that, valve is not working. Guards brought bucket and water was poured on the fire using tiny buckets and fire was brought under control.

Post analysis:

•There was no fire alarm came in the entire building. It was noticed that, fire alarm panels do not have power i.e. it is piece of junk lying on ground floor in front of guard. There is no system to evacuate or alert residents in case of emergency from the towers.

• Fire hose valve does not work and probably never tested for long time.

• Tower 6 stair cases were blocked with residents junk. Doors do not have knobs and could not open.

• It could have been disaster even one car catches fire. It could have quickly spread to others cars and building.

• We have not learned from Raheja Apts fire happened 2 months back. This is another indifference attitude we all have and hope that, it does not happen to us!!!

If we do not open our eyes now, it is accident waiting to happen any time in any tower. Probably the price we have to pay will be much higher due to property loss and loss of near and dear. There is no time for blame game. We have to fix it now immediately.

Happy Dussehra and Shubho Bijoya

We went to participate in the festivities yesterday at the Personal Floors Lawns and enjoyed a lot. It was wonderful to see a lot of community bonding and working hands putting together a great and enjoyable show. I have always noticed this about MTRWA, there will always be celebrations and all are invited to attend and have fun. Wish we could see more of such excitement in the towers also....

Drivers Menace

Seems like Malibu Towne is slowly being taken over by "I dont care who you are?" driver brigade. The benches infront of Tower 5& 6 have become their favourite hangout zone. If not out there you would find them catwalking gallantly right outside the Tower entrance.

Just the other day while coming back from office in the evening I found 4 drivers lounging at the entrance of Tower 6. Upon asking why are they all hanging around here one of them said that he is waiting for his "madam". Upon checking with the others, phat came the reply with a smirk on their face ... we are waiting for our madams too. And without a bit of bother they kept lounging there, couple of them also made their intentions clear by putting their feet on the black railings.

Am sure many of us had many discussions about the driver menace but the way I look at it, controlling the drivers is not MCRWA's responsibility nor MEPL, its the driver's employers responsibility who am sure would happen to be one of our co-residents. The issue isnt that one has a driver, issue is how much leeway have you given to your driver. I have a driver and he has been with me for 8 years and I can boldly make this claim that my driver has never argued with any resident or have lounged around inappropriately or have ever been found openly leching at women of Malibu.

Honestly, I am fed up of fighting with these drivers and trying to be their moral police or individually calling up their employers( have done that on a few instances). Am making this sincere plea to all of you who have drivers (am sure there are exceptions of decent well mannered drivers) - please speak with your drivers and coach them on the dos and donts of being in a civilised community. They should not be lounging around in the lobby area or the benches which are meant for residents. They should not be parking at the "no parking" areas and most definitely not argue with a resident when they are pointed out that they have parked their cars in the "no parking" area. And last but not the least....please do warn them against the show of attitude and muscles.

No I am not asking this favour for my personal gain alone...its in your interest as well. As your wife, or your children otherwise could be a possible victims of actions someone else' driver tomorrow and trust me its not worth waiting till then.

As I write this blog I see 5 drivers parked on the bench, one of whom with a orange T-shirt is lying on the bench with his feet up escorted by couple of other drivers. And the most blood boiling part is that he saw me glaring at him from my bedroom window but he didnt buzz either from the bench or from his posture.

Fotu Anyone ?

Hi All,
Playing tennis in the mornings is becoming a little more bearable now, there's a nip in the air, dew on the grass, the sun feels pleasant on the skin and you can feel winter trying to get it's toes in the doorway. For the past many weekends I have been promising myself a photo trip early in the morning to the qutub but rains or cloud have played spoilsport, finally last weekend I managed to go down with a friend to click some snaps. Photography is a hobby which has caught on with me big time and it's great fun to go out with friends on a photo trip/expedition. So if any of you are interested in this hobby, you are welcome to discuss, share your photo's and even plan small photo trips together. With Dussehra round the corner I can't wait to attempt some fireworks & colorful Ravan images.

Are we witnessing the death of our festivals?

How frightening a thought it is to realise that its very much possible that soon our children would hear of our festivals only in their curriculum books and never get to enjoy them....... that our children would get sucked into all kinds of artificial source of entertainment out of sheer boredom and there is little we can do about it...if we dont act now!

Richa and myself was discussing this issue today morning and couldnt help feel sorry for our kids on one hand and get frustrated on the other at our changing social priorities.

The question here is can we do something to prevent this from happening atleast in Malibu Towne? Why is it that last year we celebrated Janmasthami with such fanfare at the Tower 5-6 portico but this year we didnt? Do you know the reason? Well it seems last year's volunteers (nothing to do with MEPL or MCRWA) were repriminded for having not made the effort of personally "SENDING" prasad to each household who contributed money!!!! Well, my question to all this narrow minded unfortunate literates is that....did you contribute for home delivery of prasad or to enjoy a festival???

We had a grand Diwali couple of years back but thereon the festival scene in Malibu has been bleak. Like one of our coresidents recently commented " bolne wale bahut hain par karne wale bahut kam" :)

I remember when we were small we used to look forward to all the festivals...be it Holi, Durga Puja, Janmasthami, Saraswati Pujo, Laxmi Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi Diwali, Christmas, Guru Gobind Singh's Birthday, Eid for the Kheer, 26th January (not a festival but a day to celebrate still), 15th August (not another holiday but a day to rejoice our independence...try and compare this day with 4th of July :)

But do you see that excitement in our kids (apart from the chance to burst crackers in Diwali?) Well, we can hardly blame them. Where is the exposure? To give you an example, I was pleasantly surprised on 15th August to hear drum rolls, group songs etc...only to realise its celebration of Independence day and that it is happening in Uniworld with much fanfare. What did we the elite Malibu Towners do? I felt ashamed of myself for having treated the day as yet another holiday.

Would like to make this outburst an opportunity to come together to make sure that we take some time out to celebrate our festivals before they lose their meaning behind the much hyped nonsensical Friendship Days, Valentine's Day which today's kids seem to prefer to celebrate.

To make a beginning, lets come together to celebrate Diwali. The scale and the grandeur doesnt matter ...lets put up something. Count Richa and myself in...if there are more of you who would like to join hands it could be fun.

Satya turns 6!!!!

Its great to see a slow and steady rise of members on our blog, but we would also urge everyone to write in new posts and add comments to existing notes if you have any thoughts, solutions and ideas.

Our dear Satya turned six yesterday and we had a blast at 206 Tower-6, at Sanjay and Richa's...there were games, dancing , food, fun and frolic and by the end of it all I was still confused about which was was Kunal and which one was Kartik (the twins from Tower-3.....hehehehe).

We will put some picture up as soon as we are able to. It also gave us an opportunity to meet residents and udpate them on all the latest happenings on the Deed of registration- registering process (a saleman always has to be on the job, right..!? :-)). So Devendar should be getting calls from people this week to collect the documents and the money to take things forward.

Over all a great evening by the end of which we all were productively tired. Thank you to all who could attend the party, we all had great fun and missed all other invitees who could not make it. Cheers

MCRWA Activity Sunday

Today was the 3rd sunday of the month (20th sunday of the year) and on my way back from the Church (in Kanhai village) I was left thinking about the theme preached. Today was celebrated as the "Justice Sunday" where the parish priest urged all the parishners to go beyond their own lives and families and take up some one cause and make a difference. Some examples given were of Medha Patekar, Preity Zinta, Shabana Aazmi, Narayan Murthy to name a few.
Everyone lives for themselves and their families everyday, but sparing some time and effort for others/ a cause, is as worthwhile and fulfilling as it is for oneself. It was a relevant message which just reinforced what I had to do after coming back from mass- go with MCRWA members to every house in our tower (no.-6) and request residents to join the MCRWA and also to get their "Deed of registeration", registered with the court.
It was a fruitful and construtive effort where we were able to meet a lot of residents and convey the message to as many people as we could- both tenants and owners. A lot of them were very gracious and polite and offered us to come in and have tea/ snacks, but it being a sunday, we did not want to take everyone's personal/ family time. 5-6 people offered to get the docs ready such that they can give us a copy of their conveyance sale deed and 1500/- rupees in cash to get this done.
Mr. Dinakar Sharma, Mr. Jagadish Kataria, Mr. Niranjan Singh were there to assist Sanjay and I in this effort. It was commendable that at their age, they were able to take the time out and make the effort for this community service with us.
We are excited with the opportunity to help and have started blogging to keep everyone upated on the events. We continue to look forward to everyone's participation and continued communication/ action. Cheers. Danny.

Waterlogging at the Malibu Main gates during rains.

Putting up Deepa Tiku's Note as a separate item- Deepa you need to use the email I sent on how to write and create new items on the blog for creating new posts. Let me know if you have any problem, or simpler call me. Danny.

-------------------------

Is there anything at all that can be done to put a stop to the waterlogging at our main gates. I am sure everyone wants it to rain but when it does it is a pain for us Malibu dwellers.

Our cars are suddenly converted into motor boats and our maids etc. end up enjoying a holiday as they cannot/do not want to wade through. All in all its a nuisance!

Second, i also want to know if any of you is also facing a problem of rain water seeping-in from windows and AC gaps. Help!

Circle Rate of Malibu

Does anyone know what the current circle rate is for Malibu Town? How can one get a confirmed number for this?

Car Parking

This is an earnest request to all residents to kindly take care of the following:
1. Please park your vehicles in your designated parking slots on the car parking area and if you do not have one then kindly park your vehicles in the visitors area designated outside. Parking your vehicles in other people’s slots or creating your new slots yourself leads to chaos and inconvenience to others. Would request you to kindly convey the same to your drivers and guests/ visitors. Cars are parked and kept right infront of No Parking sign boards, which only illiterate and uneducated people would do.
2. Residents with Pets- please use the service lifts to transport your pets up and down in the building. If the service lift is not working kindly take your pets through the staircase and report the non working lift to the maintenance staff. This is everyone’s responsibility and should not be told. It has been noticed and observed that residents use normal lifts to do this and the pets end up urinating in the lifts which no one bothers to get or get cleaned. Whether it’s the lifts or common areas, kindly support keeping these clean as you would, your own house. Just because your pets are out does not mean your responsibilities end with that. The mess created by them in non-designated areas is annoying and inconvenient to other residents.
